Look after your jewelry

Many elements can influence the perseverance of your jewelry. Therefore we recommend that you carefully look after your pieces and make sure that they are properly cleaned, polished and stored. Please read through these following steps

Always protect your jewelry from knocks, scratches, extreme temperatures and especially chemicals to minimise damage. It’s always best for your jewelry to remove them when you shower and bathe. But particularly in the sea and in chlorinated water. Try to keep clear from spraying perfume or applying creams where it might come in direct contact with your jewelry.

Please be aware that with gold-vermeil, or plated jewelry this is even more damaging, we will explain why a little more down. Hopefully it makes sense that these thin layers are more sensitive to damages. For this reason we ask ask you to take special care with your gold-vermeil, or plated jewelry and really carefully read through the given protection advice.

Your jewelry is best to be placed individually in pouches, as provided by ADORN or within a soft cloth to stop them from being scratched or tangled up.

Each solid 925 sterling silver, 14 karat golden bronze, gold-vermeil or 14 karat gold jewelry will naturally tarnish over time. They will develop marks from our own skin residue and the exposure to the elements of life. Best is using a polishing cloth, available at most jewelers or drugstores. This is an effective way to keep these precious materials looking bright and lavish.

Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean metal as they can cause scratching or leave lints. Do not use a polishing cloth or cream on gold-plated jewelry, as it can remove the plating.

Gold-vermeil, gold-plated bronze jewelry should be cleaned through periodically. Wash your jewelry with warm water. Be gentle and don’t rub too hard as it’s so easily damaged because of the very thin layer.

A little extra attention for the natural gemstones we work with. As they are rather delicate, even hot water but especially harsh chemicals and cleaners should be avoided at all times. We advise cleaning your stones with a clean, soft, preferably damp cloth when cleaning your jewelry. As stated earlier please also do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean gemstones as they can cause scratching.

If you follow these guidelines your jewelry should stand the test of time. If you have any questions or doubts please contact us info@adorn.nl.
